Road Closures

For those making your plans for the day of Inauguration, be aware of the road closures.  The map shown below provided by the U.S. Secret Service is applicable starting Saturday.  To reach the Mandarin Oriental, its suggested to come via

I-395 Entering District of Columbia to the U.S. 1 N exit.   Turn right onto D St SW.  Take the 1st right onto 12th St SW.   Take the 1st right onto Maryland Ave SW and then turnright to the Mandarin Oriental at 1330 Maryland Ave SW.

Parking at the Mandarin Oriental is $30.

METRO

Inaugural/January 21st:  “Metro riders will have rush-hour service most of the day, even though it’s a holiday…the Archives, Mount Vernon Square and Smithsonian stations will be closed because of the inauguration…Metrobuses that would normally operate within the security zone will be detoured around it.”

TRAINS
Historic Union Station, two blocks from the Capitol Building. It is the best destination for those arriving via AMTRAK or Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) trains. Virginia Railway Express (VRE), the Virginia commuter rail, will not run trains on inauguration day.

MARC tickets for Inauguration Day are on sale online through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The $25 tickets are for specific morning trains, but can also be used for any of the afternoon trains. Regular MARC tickets will not be accepted.  Buy in advance! If there are tickets remaining on Inauguration Day, they will be sold, cash only, at the Halethorpe, Odenten, Brunswick and Germantown stations.
